I Remember the Beginning Like a Dream of Mercury

I Remember the Beginning Like a Dream of Mercury

I remember the beginning like a psychedelic dream floating through constellations bright,
with your hand lost in my palm like two amber butterflies trapped in crystal's light,
we flew lightly unbound by world through galaxies of translucent living velvet soft,
believing that eternity is like this a cascade of mercury flowing slowly through time aloft.

I kissed your forehead without fear like a destiny sent from magical heavens above,
you were a prince carved from jade and I a heart in flames of molten silver love,
that didn't know how to beat for two in the cosmic rhythm of love without any borders,
only for you it burned like a psychedelic candle in the temple of my soul's quarters.

In your eyes there was only spring with crystal landscapes that melted slowly away,
and everything that existed had a cosmic sense engraved in the skin of our universe's play,
a flower a cloud an ephemeral rain were gifts that gathered intensely within you bright,
like magic runes written in the secret alphabet of our fragile existence's light.

I gave myself with all I was alive without reserves without ever questioning why,
my love was a prayer written on every moment that I live even now as I sigh,
on every breath that floats like smoke through the invisible air between us lost,
on every heartbeat that still weaves your memory in my living blood at any cost.

But time has learned to separate us with silent steps with cold gestures of stone and ice,
and your hand once-shelter became a memory through which I pass like fog's device,
like through a tunnel of dead light where the echo of your voice melts slowly down,
where all we were together becomes cosmic dust carried by the wind of forgetting's crown.

And yet the longing hasn't died in me it lives in every "what if" spoken in the night,
because first love doesn't leave you know well it only hides in the soul out of sight,
like a jade crystal buried deep in the cave of my bleeding heart that still pounds,
pulsing with your phantom light that refuses to die in the darkness of past time's bounds.

I felt loved then completely like a queen in our palace of silver dreams so bright,
and maybe that's what hurts the most that I was everything that I was magic light,
in a love that remains first and imperishable engraved in my velvet skin so deep,
a cosmic tattoo that never fades a living memory that breathes in every cell I keep.
