I Reach

I reach as I am falling, there is no one there, no safety net below, no easy landing anywhere, time feels endless as I fall, years pass before me mistakes are replayed triumphs shortened regrets overflow. Nothing stops gravity, nothing stops me, the end but a few feet away, it gets here quickly, I am nothing as flesh meets ground, a nothing to which I return, all motion ceases - I am gone. A bright light ends the journey... daylight eliminates the terror.
