I Picked up My Ears

Airplanes scream overhead Lawn mowers abuzz on the ground Traffic streams endlessly by drowning out nature's intentions all of her creatures’ sounds... One lonely night in the country I picked up my weary ears things soddenly sounded just right Whistling and chirping Mating calls of birds A pond come alive something forgotten in me had stirred

that 'drowning out' saddens me sometimes. I'm not sure all the 'noise' is good for our souls. I walk most mornings along the trails near my home, relishing the sounds of nature...it's soothing for sure.

Beautiful imagery and heartfelt reflection, Gershon. I love how you capture the quiet awakening to nature’s music amidst the noise—reminding us to truly listen and reconnect.

Nothing like the sound of a country setting. I enjoyed your poem Bill. Thanks for your visit.
