I once sat under the tree

I once sat under the tree of misconception
with a mind swirling with delusion
and eyes blinded to the darkness
where fantasy hides
                                   truths reality

inside the shadows the secret lurks
a place where dreams
suddenly turn into nightmares
and the truth
                         is quickly revealed

the storm clouds cover
the brightness of the day
and rain falls upon the raging fire
leaving only
                     a mass of
                                     sodden
                                                ashes
