'i Never Retreated'

I wasn't meant to beat depression, I was supposed to be defeated

But the way I seen it, I had nothing to lose, I fought it, I never retreated

When you hit rock bottom, that's the end of all your pain

You can now only move upwards, you won't want to decline ever again

Life can be so tough when you are feeling down

It is up to you if you're to turn this back around

I've gathered this through experience, you must absorb all the advice you're given

No one else can do the work for you, if it gets hard then please don't give in

Please let me be your teacher and allow me to educate

I've been where you find yourself right now, defeat is not your fate

When anxiety decides to kick in, depression won't be far behind

To combat this, devise a plan and transcend this to your mind

I've been asked this question many times before, why do i do what I do

I know what it's like to suffer and to struggle every day, i want to prevent my peers feeling blue

My poetry is without doubt my best form of expression

Each piece I write contains strength and fight, it shows people how to battle depression

I'm proud that I have managed to fight back and help myself

Now it's my duty to help my peers with their own mental health

I've made a promise to myself, I will always give my all

I'll always offer my hand to anyone whoever falls

Helping people is my passion, it's what gets me out of bed

My words can take away the negativity that resides inside your head

I fight for my fellow warriors, its you who I represent

I give each one the confidence just before they begin the ascent
