I Never Knew I Needed One

I never knew I needed one.
Until one enticed me into writing back and forth.
Her code name Turtle.
She had so many things to say,
And they spoke to my heart.
My first penpal!

We had a mystical connection.
A soul-sister feeling,
A fast and forever bond.
We wrote so many crazy things to each other.
Things we would never dare say to strangers.
For they would then know we were mad.

And deliriously happy in our crazed states,
We continued to write.
All of the stories we could never tell another.
Stories bartenders would have not believed.
Yet, they had happened to both of us.

Will we ever meet?
Probably not, but I do not want to.
Penpals forever. Who would want to take a chance
and ruin something as beautiful as that?
Right, Turtle?
