I Never Gave Up the Blues

Well I gave up smoking and I gave up booze, I might give up the horses but I can’t give up the blues. The blues has got me, and I got the blues. I gave up buying those fancy foreign cars, I gave up girls that look like movie stars. I gave up buying things I never use, But You know damn well I never gave up the blues. The Band sings You know damn well he never gave up the blues. I gave up waiting for my number to come in, I gave up living a life that’s filled with sin. I gave up eating anything that’s sweet, I gave up hitting on every girl I meet. I gave up paying those stupid union dues, But you know damn well I never gave up the blues.
