I Never...

I never knew...
What I'd go through
By loving you

I never tried...
To put love aside
I ache inside

I never cried...
Tears wouldn't subside
Thought I'd died

I never thought...
That I'd be caught
Without a chance
To dance love's dance

I never wondered...
If you hungered
After my love grew
I thought I knew

I never felt...
Nor ever dealt
With this much pain
From your refrain

I never knew...
What I would do
If we were through

I never lost...
Or paid the cost
when love was tossed

I never can...
Understand
That man
