I Must Write

I cannot take the silence
Of the uncommunicated word
As it spreads over my mind and being
As it wreaks havoc within my soul
The deafening silence hurts
As it travels the caverns of my mind
Seeking home, maybe refuge
From absolute thought

I must speak, rather write the words
Capture the essence, the meaning
Allow the words to grow
Into sentences, into verse
Providing additional thought for others
So their silence doesn’t overwhelm
And expand over the face
Of the earth
