I Miss You
I miss you
I recall how at first you called me boy
Gave me sweet things and always a special toy
Scared trying to sleep heart racing with fright
You tucked me in rubbed my head and said good night
I was young and naive but your actions said I care
No matter my circumstance, you were always there
I remember those rainy days playing soccer, not so good
But you came week after week and in the rain you stood
Forever trying and hoping to make you proud
For me, you always stood out amongst that crowd
Picture still clear seems like just the other day
You promised to guide me, teach me the way
I grew up fast much more wiser and more bolder
You couldn’t see this you retreated your love grew colder
Days were tough, I missed you, needed your attention
You spent time with everyone but my name, not a mention
Why dad, what happened, why did you change
Why did you avoid me, why your heart and feelings rearrange
I blamed myself I cried but I never had a clue
Now I understand somewhat, I’m a father too
Procrastination is the thief of time, or so they say
So if something must be said say it today
Maybe you never read this especially this part
I miss you and it hurts, but you’re still in my heart
If you can find the time be it sunshine or rain
Let’s get together take a trip down memory lane
And when we in life our victories have won
Remember this, you’re still my father, and I your son
Miss you dad
