I Miss You

I miss the, you, you used to be
Back before, we were us
You, fully, loved me for me
My quirks, you’d dare not hush

Back before, we were us
You approved of my beliefs
My quirks, you’d dare not hush
Now, I cause your grief

You approved of my beliefs
You, fully, loved me for me
Now, I cause your grief
I miss the you, you used to be

I really felt this poem deeply, Anna. I think we all want that feeling of the way things were at another point in a relationship. Age and situation can rob us of who we were as a couple in time past. Some of us change too much, while others change in ways that work. Thanks for sharing!

Probably why wedding vows say for better or for worse. Everything changes, not always for the better but true love conquers all:) You have expressed yourself very well, Anna.

It is most unfortunate when people get too comfortable in their relationships and love changes from respecting to taking for granted. Enjoyed your poem, Anna.
