I Miss It

I miss it when one plus one equals two, when drama was, “he stole my crayons”, when recess was more than fifteen minutes, when nap time followed that; i miss it when school lunches were small salads, with a cookie for a snack, when i came home i had only reading for work, when nobody is made fun of because of one little quirk, now, drama follows everyday and ends in heartbreak and tears, how i wish to go back to my younger years, one plus one is no longer two, there’s an equation to solve; just waiting for you, school lunches are no more than greasy pizza’s; with cheap cheese that taste like plastic, classes are longer, homework is a pile, drama is flirting with a senior boy, trying to hide a sheepish smile, i really miss being in my younger life; tucked tight in a blanket, teddy bear tightly held as i sleep through the night, in the wall is a plugged in; glowing pink, princess light. and through it all; i smile, because-although i feel i suffer-i know it’s all worthwhile, but, sometimes i just want to go back in a random whirl, back to being that sweet little, innocent blue-eyed little girl. i miss it. i miss it so, i hope as well that you, miss it as much as i do.
