I Messed Up

You laughed at my jokes
I thought I was being fooled
We conversed through the night
I could not believe its truth -
We fell in love, from the beginning.

You called my name
I thought too much of my image
We reconvened later
I could feel your heart -
We held each other, to few qualms.

You cried tears
I callously walked away
We reconciled a day after
I could see your pain -
We promised forever, to be continued.

You lost your happiness
I opposed your accusations
We found a way forward
I could not understand your cause -
We obligated ourselves, to remain.

You were left hopeless
I confessed my infidelity
We separated at once
I refused to be omissive -
We could not love, to the end.

Welcome to Poetry Soup Keshan. "I callously walked away" - when I read this line I said, "This is a REAL poet, because what he is saying is claiming blame, and heartfelt truth."
