I love the way you are -like the way I am-

You’re just like me in a way
In a way I wish I could say
That I love the way you are
But it’d be a lie to lie and say
Those six words that nick at my heart

Because if you’re like me in a way
And I don’t like me to be
So just like you
I can’t say I love the way you are
When I don’t like the way I am

Let me teach you to be unlike me
So that you can be inexplicably free
But can I really teach you so
When I still reap what I sow
I should learn to let go

One day I’ll learn to love the way I am
So that I can love the way you are
But hopefully when that day comes
You won’t quite be so like me
Then we can both be free
