I Love That Song

Written 2003

First love
never forgotten
no matter how much
changes.
Idealized, as it never was.
But you miss it all the more
when you remember
all that was wrong.
Things will never be wrong
in a way so right
again.
You and me against
the world.
We lost, didn't we?
Did we really throw it all away?
Leaving us with only
regret.
And I still remember
the perfection that existed
for that brief time
when I hear
that song.

I love that ending part, "perfection that existed for that brief time. . . " Songs can do that for you. I'm happy you liked my kiddie poem enough to copy it out like that. Let me know if the child liked it. LUv, Andrea
