I Love My City
As all the bright, bright city lights,
Extinguished one by one,
I watched in awe the city sights,
A day just had begun.
With my eyes closed, I feel the sun,
It raises once again,
I want to cry, to sing, to run,
I want to hug the rain.
I hear the waves crashing the shore,
Such music to my ears,
A symphony that I adore,
I’m lost in childish tears.
I walk alone by Lake Shore Drive
Chicago never sleeps,
My city is awake, alive
Chicago is for keeps.
