I Love Me

When you've been through hell and back, And now you're wiser, your mind intact, When your love has been used, leaving you hurt, But you survived, and now you're grounded like dirt, When the challenges of life, has thrown some low blows, But after being knocked down a few times, found life weakness, one to the nose, When you've given so much of yourself, trying to make others right, But when you're in your dark tunnel, no one's around to turn on the light, You've learnt your lessons and after travelling lifes' journey for so many miles, You now feel an internal peace, and from deep down in your soul it brings out a smile...

Yup Richard, there's no point waiting for a high beam in the dark tunnel, its better to find your own way. Very relatable and instant favorite.

Richard, hi. This piece might be autobiographical, but ends up be so, I think, for us all. It is a story of the route of Survival! Well-documented, indeed. But, not everyone smiles afterward. That is where we need to be, in your title, at the end of trials, and where God hopes us to be. I thank you for this poem.

Ah Ha, Richard....well said! As we journey through this life we learn a lot, and we also learn to find that inner peace following the mantra of "to thine own self be true". Blessings, Paulette

Hi, Richard, I enjoyed your poem. It seems life is all about getting knocked down. I think they call this life's lesson. If you learn from it than than you have grown. I love the last verse in your poem "You now feel an internal peace". That's the peace at the end of a storm. Many Blessings ~ Debbie
