I Love

I Love

I love memories
Distant wood smoke
Warm stone on my bare feet
A measure of strides on wooden boards
When every board sings a different tune
Diamond strewn frosty nights
Late night heart beats of silence
The scent of summer grass
Humming bees in spring
The first bird song at dawn
A lament of wood pigeons in a tall tree
Cloud shadows on the hillside
Wheat field dance in a breeze
Applauding surf glistening beach shingle
Screaming gulls over my head
Crows that bicker before bed time
Forest paths that guide my way
underneath lime green cathedrals
