I Lost the Horizon, For Seeking the Sun

With eyes on the prize at the top,
I struggled, worked, and would not stop
When I arrived, it was so grand,
but what was it I had in hand?
I lost most of my treasured friends
when I worked all of my weekends.
My days were spent reaching my goal,
not thinking it would take a toll.
No time to see the brilliant dawn,
or in the meadow see a fawn.
Sit with a friend, just for pleasure,
have a meal, and talk, a treasure.
While high upon the pinnacle
my mind revealed a miracle.
The journey’s where the joy is found
while climbing to the top you’re bound.
Don’t say these words when you are done,
“I lost the horizon, for seeking he sun”
