I Looked Out Upon the Sea

I LOOKED OUT UPON THE SEA I looked out upon on the sea To wonder what the sea would think The most that I conceived was this The sea was looking back at me What was it, then I through I saw When waves came up to lash the shore Why are you so peaceful , why are so at ease Don’t you storm and rage and threaten I thought how cold your core can be, how deep How treacherous at your tide How gentle at your helm Perhaps you know within your depth That not so much is different then You understand my human whim to Set aside to watch your stride Perhaps our thoughts have mingled so That we are much alike at sea As friends would meet to soothe and cope I calm you as you do me By: Adella Mae Jackson MY MOTHER
