I Looked Out At the Rain

It rained today,
Dark pellets of the heaven's tears
Soaking up the sounds of the earth
Changing them

The trees were felled
Big and old, bent to the will of the water
The cracked sounds of expendability
Following them

Floods wiped away all evidence of activity
Leaving the earth shifted and soaked
Feet ferrying bodies to shelter
Shielding them

It made me sad
This washing away of things I know
The clouds grey as though with sorrow
Hurting them

I really like your poem --- it makes me think. There are a lot of poems about the beauty of the rain, but your poem talks about the sadness that can be associated with raining and flooding.
