I Live In a Van Down By the River

Chris Farley
One of SNL’s funniest comediennes
Delighted my husband and me

We loved his line
“I live in a van down by the river”
I used it once at a family reunion
When a relative asked where I live

My mother immediately began explaining that I had a house
I said “sure, but I am putting two hours a day on my car.
I live in my car, Mom.”

“That’s not a van down by the river.”
No, but it might as well have been.
Chris Farley delighted me.

I loved his expressions.
He could make me laugh with a raised eyebrow.
Dead at the young age of 33

Killed by a speedball
Combination of morphine and cocaine
Incredibly sad

I still use his line to this day
And think of him sometimes
He was a delight.

Chris may have been a delight. But at least you didn't do what he did to himself, because you saw De Lite! ~ Flickering Switch
