I Like

I like poetry that is simple and direct and yet is layered in depth where you can descend as deep as you want to go - poetry that says just enough and no more and leaves things unsaid, fertile ground on which the imagination can grow. I like poetry that finds its roots in nature and ordinary things, listens to what memory murmurs and the rumblings that rise from the soul. I like the incantatory power of poetry, how it evokes feeling and stirs a longing in places left hollow a lifetime ago - poetry that becomes almost prayer not to some named god, but to that which remains hidden and out of reach but which whispers to us in rustling leaves, reflected light and along the corridors of our dreams. I like poetry that claims no more than being a loving imprint of a life left briefly on the tidal wash of time.

Compositions that provide active hearing, listening, telling, sharing. Not too long. Wrap up one thought with diverse messages entwined for resolution of possibilities. Preeminent jousting. Excellent, Paul, as always. :o)

"I love little baby ducks, red pickup trucks, and goo." Heh. A little tribute to the late great Tom T. Hall. Re your poem, I gotcha. Personal preference rules. Personally, I don't want to have to think too hard. I'm more of a story teller than a poet, so most of my writes are wordy and/or easily deciphered. To each his own. Lovely poem

Oh, and regarding the comments below I have to disagree. Not only is AI getting so good it fools the AI checkers, it obviously is fooling many seasoned poets. That's not a pro AI statement. Just a fact

Excellent ink, I mirror your thoughts Paul and what is very important to me is it MUST be poetry that is written by REAL human beings and not AI generated! write on Paul:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Jan for your thoughtful words. In essence the poem is my case against AI. Artificially generated poetry cannot meet any of the stated attributes. Appreciate yr support my dear friend.
