I Let It Slip Away

I let it slip away.
	Regretful till this day,
I kept your love at bay
	and let it slip away.

I had your undying love and true devotion,
passionate romance in arduous motion.
I was so careless with my own emotion
	…I let it slip away

I pushed you away at each chance
choosing an unassuming stance.
Because of my adverse circumstance
	…I let it slip away

You gave your everything for decades
yet I never acknowledged your grades
and in my pathetic childish charades
	…I let it slip away

Now I’m wiser, in hopeless remorse
as my life has run its convoluted course.
Without your steadfast love in full force
	…I let it slip away

This one hit like a ten pound hammer. Kind of negligence which turned to complication. Well done ...Linda. Good luck

Well, who doesn't have regrets? Very well written (of course). Fortunately when we realize our mistakes we are rewarded with wisdom. So at least you got that going for you. Knowing you like I do. i am sure you took the path of least resistance, always the best detour:) I hope you are well and had a fine day in the woods Alice. If you are reading my comment then all is well. You have made it home safely.

A personal regret. But what's done is done.

Hi Linda, I think this is really really good. And…has a universal theme. I am sure many push the wrong person away. We have to forgive ourselves and move on. No kidding Pangie
