I Let It Slip Away

I Let It Slip Away

I let it slip away, my freedom said goodbye,
as I sat in a cell of abuse pain and neglect;
life is blasé I can’t conger up a why.

You were a tyrant and I wanted to die,
as I start to slip away like an object;
I let it slip away, my freedom said goodbye.

Couldn’t save me so I didn’t even try,
my soul feels like it has been shipwrecked;
life is blasé I can't conger up a why.

I’m floating to the unknown, can’t fly,
there’s no place in sight to intersect;
I let it slip away, my freedom said goodbye.

In the beginning, you were a nice guy,
you morphed into one void of intellect;
life is blasé I can't conger up a why.

Time stands still the twilight hour is nigh,
as I float without hope, I disconnect.
I let it slip away, my freedom said goodbye,
life is blasé I can’t conger up a why.

Quite well written Alexis. I admire poets who can handle villanelle form masterfully in which I am very poor. All the Best.

In life's situations sometimes that happens, and we don't know how, why or when, but once we figure it out, we need to change things slowly in stages in order to gain back our life. However, sometimes it is caused by someone with control issues then that is a whole different story and needs to be handled by a trained professional. Thank you for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara
