I Left My Love Behind

Betrayed by my lost love.
Who left us behind in the dust.
Met him a church a wolf in sheeps clothing.
My guidable heart fell for his tricky ways.

My heart is lost.
How can it be found.
Its distant and cold as a stone.
You left us to fend for ourselves,
you left us behind in the dust.
How can my heart be found.

Ten years have gone by since my daughter was born.
She filled my heart with Joy.
A sadness forever remained I never looked for love again.
I focus on life, my love for God. My heart has been healed
by past lost of love.
The dust has settled, I left him behind.
I found my purpose in my daughter of mine.

My heart is found.
My love abounds.
My soul spread its wings to heaven above.
With my God's mercy and love.

Lovely poem Heather :) I really like how you turned it around at the end :)... I too met a "wolf" or maybe I should say "snake" in my church when I was 14.

What a beautiful and heartfelt poem, Heather, and how true it is that God heals the brokenhearted! I lost a son in 2013 and could never have dealt with it without the help of the Lord. Arlene
