Your feelings came through strong and straight from the heart, where most good poetry is born. Your paint a vivid picture with words and you make us feel the sadness they express...this is hard to accomplish, and you do it well.

Anne, I was mesmerized while reading your poem. I had a similar experience. Birds seem to carry messages between the living and the dead. Excellent writing! Congratulations on a first-place win. Best wishes, Carolyn

I was on my way to the hospital and had no idea my dear son had passed, but when I saw this phenomenon, I had a physical pain in my heart and prayed this was not a sign... only to find out that this was the exact time he died, bless him, at just 49. Thank you so much Carolyn for my first place win. The anniversary of his untimely death is fast approaching and I cannot believe he has gone. With kindest thoughts Ann x

Thank you Line for the FAVE. It was exactly how it happened, I will never forget it, but by putting it into words I felt as if my son's spirit really was saying goodbye, God bless him. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Such a moving poem Ann, it is down to more than coincidence that these things happen. I love the collective noun for crows... then again the noise they make when hundreds of them roost in a tree could cause someone to take a gun to them:-) hugs Jan xx

Yes Jan, at the time I prayed it was not a sign, but when we reached the hospital, well it was... with kindest thoughts Ann xx

Many thanks dear Heidi for your kind words. Yes this was astonishing to see, as they rose very slowly, and straight up into the sky. Though at the time I was unaware that my son had passed and at the exact time I had witnessed this happening. With kindest thoughts Ann xx
