I Know

I'm sorry you are so upset

I didn't say I was upset

You didn't have to--I knew
from the slamming doors
and stomping on floor

I'm sorry you're in much pain

I didn't say I was in much pain

I heard you moaning and groaning
when you walked up the steps
and slower ascent and descent
than usual--I knew

No I didn't

Yes you did but it's okay
I know you try and hide it
but--I know
Can I get you some pain pills
and the heating pad

I know you love me

I should say it more often
but I don't

I know--because you fixed the door
and put clothes in the dryer
and offered to go with me to
my dentist appointment so
you could drive home since
I wouldn't feel like it

You don't have to say a word--I know
