I Know
I know how the snake feels
When the cloud gets dark
And unto him the cold rain pours
When the sun shines and burns its exposed skin
When night brings danger
And there is no escape
I know why the snakes moves
In a path so sneaky
For he sneaks away from life
I know why the snake cries
Tears turned to blood
Prayers unanswered
Dreams shuttered
By an act of faith
I know why the snake bite's
when someone come's close
He is forced to act
an act of fear
It bites for its protection
No one seems to care about him he thinks
Left alone with the green grasses
He slitters all day
because of the loads of history
Those loads bending him down
To a point of shame
Unable to stand tall
It slitters
The way the snake moves
Makes us one in pain
Taking away from home
Left to wonder
In a place that brings nothing but pain
He prays not for tomorrow
but for tonight
because if he is able to survive tonight
He smiles
His spirit's lifted one more time
