I Keep

Deep down there
where dreams are buried under
the realities of everyday life

I keep going.

Under the bottom
of a dry well
infested with dark craving creatures
smothered over with rusty scraps
of traumatic memories

I keep hoping

Here, there, everywhere
Hugging the earth
I am surrounded
by the spirit
to whom

I keep praying

Hi Steven, your poem is both very dark and...full of light! I love the contrast and the unusual form. Write on, Terrell (Terry) or just plain old Me):

Terrell, thank you very much for your comment. I don't usually get many, but when they're this good, they're blessings. I am encouraged to "write on!" Again, thank you :)
