I Hope It Pain Fades Away
Memories keep coming back,
Like a relentless attack,
Why do people change their tune,
Leaving us feeling marooned?
They make us out to be the villain,
When our hearts are simply fillin',
With hurt and pain, and the need to react,
But they won't listen, it's a fact.
Why do they misunderstand,
And twist our words like putty in their hand?
They tell us not to be so self-centered,
But their own needs are what's entered.
We try to love ourselves the way we did for them,
But they label us rude and condemn,
"Don't demand, don't set conditions," they say,
While we struggle to get through each day.
Why does it hurt so much,
When all we want is a loving touch?
We try to let go and move on,
But the memories linger on and on.
So we hold on to hope and faith,
And keep moving forward at our own pace,
We'll find the love and peace we deserve,
And leave behind the hurt we didn't serve.
A poem on how my mind keeps on getting distracted with hurtful memories, the questions of "why"
