I Heard It Said

I heard it said - and I take it in good faith, that basically you say I’m frigid, an iceberg - impervious to heat... I must congratulate you on not telling me to my face - God forbid, I would find out... But that’s life! You win some - you lose some... names and casualties are taken, Indifference becomes the wall built around me - distance, a good friend... a light shot out in one foul swoop of madness, a heart that now freezes because of you! The road ahead is simultaneously thorned and dazzling - the oasis is not just a mirage... but to reach that Utopian destination requires me burning my soles on the scorching sands and being blinded by the flaming light... I will walk this road - tread it carefully... but know this - you walk with me, although you built the walls around me - you must break them down, demolish them... find my light! Copyright Deon J.H.
