“I Hear the Song in Reverse”



You are my song 
in reverse;

I real you in 
like a fox on the run
with your story 
between my teeth,
a cotton reel 
spun on an old Singer 
sewing machine
stolen and unraveling 
dream moments
from your youth
and past the future, 

I run I run 

I see everything in 
the stitches of a 
spine on the 
book that 
is titled, 
“Mine”, 

but 

TRUTH
be told
it is yours.
I live the life
of a Smyth Sewer
threading life stories
through loops

You are always
shimmering
inside the pocket
of my
Heart

Locked, 
but running free

in the Magnet 
that is my Mind
