I Have a Wish

I have a wish
where we traveled far, to find love
to keep it safe in the palms of our desires
and light the flames of today
from yesterday's smoke-filled fantasies
and trembling wishes that floated endlessly
across the lost days of our lives

I have a wish
where we are hungry for the beauty love is
to be creatures of emotion, longing to be nourished
with wants and needs that haunt our souls
filling the empty wells of loneliness, until
overflowing from the well-spring of our love

I have a wish
where these emotions intertwine and create one
to envelop tears from separate dreams
where love is found, allowing them to drift away
on the thankful streams of tomorrow
leaving a breathless form that crosses time

I have a wish
where we find the moist eyes of love
to be an invitation to leave this world, if briefly
and count the seasons of the years
in our memories where we found comfort and peace
from every wish
