I Have a Nightmare

I HAVE A NIGHTMARE
I have a nightmare
where all people
can be gunned down on our streets
without regard
to the color of their skin
I have a nightmare
where no one will be safe in their home
no matter what part of town they live in I have a nightmare
I have a nightmare
where no woman
can walk down the street after dark
and know she will not be harmed I have a nightmare!
I have a nightmare
where children will have to play inside
behind locked doors
without regard to their ethnic background
I have a nightmare
where no person can fix a flat tire
without thinking they might be mugged or killed I have a nightmare
I have a nightmare
where police lie on witness stands
to send people they do not like to jail I have a nightmare
I have a nightmare
I have a nightmare
Where no on can go anywhere without proving who they are
and what they are doing there.
I have a nightmare
where searches will be the rule
before boarding any airplane
to go anywhere.
I have a nightmare

where nobody cares.
