I Got Troubles On My Mind
That mean old August sun
he just keeps on beating me down
The heat I am sweating from
makes me look like I have drown
A swig of water from a jug
an old rag to wipe my face
And Mr. Sun is smiling snug
it's only time I need to erase
I got troubles on my mind
and a world of endless time
No matter what I do
my thoughts linger back to you
Can a sin be amended
can a wrong be suspended
Nothing matters anymore
my life is spoken for
Dig a ditch, shovel a path
hit a rock, breaking your back
Long in the heat a body shimmers
like a ghost glows in ember
Never forget but refuse to remember
that for your love myself surrendered
Chained and locked away in time
I got troubles on my mind
