I Go Down To the Sea
I GO DOWN TO THE SEA
I LOOK AT THE PEOPLE THERE AND
SEE THE UNMISTAKABLE MARKS OF LIFE
GROUND INTO THE FACES
OF THESE INNOCENT BYSTANDERS, WARRIORS AND WITNESSES
I OBSERVE THE WEARY, THE BEATEN, THE FORGOTTEN AND THE HOPEFUL
COMING UP FOR ONE MORE
BREATH OF SEA AIR
BEFORE THEY SINK TO THE BOTTOM OF MY SEE
