I Give To You
I have nothing left to give you
only these words
to remind you of our bonds.
My words reach up as prayer to God
in blessings and promises for you
of fond memories and shared dreams.
I have forgotten many things
and some dreams were unachieved
but they were ours.
I have nothing more to give you
to keep you safe and warm
for the future days to come.
There is only everything
of friendship, love and memories.
These are the unspoken hopes
for what may have been and may yet be.
I have nothing left of any more importance
than that love
and the remainder of myself.
I hope that is enough
for all we ever have to give to others
is what we have of ourselves.
I give it all
to you.
