I Gaze At the Moon

I gaze at the moon
Drawn to her beautiful light
Eyes lifted up to the heavens
while dew wets the ground at my feet
I gaze at the moon
Queen o'er the stars of the night
Marked by the stones of the ages
Yet still she is smiling and sweet

I gaze at the moon
Hung in the vastness of space
Marking the days of the seasons
The days of the ancientest year
I gaze at the moon
Sailing at orderly pace
Lighting the night for the creatures
By sending a beam through the drear

This is stunning. I love that you described the moon as an ancient yet persistent presence. It makes our time on this earth seem so short and insignificant!
