I Found You Again in My Dreams

I Found You Again in My Dreams

I can't believe I found you again in my dreams last night,
you stood on your high terrace and I waited below near your house,
and between us a phone carried every truth I once swallowed down,
I said everything, what I couldn't tell you last time when I stayed silent.

Every unspoken thing flowed out of me like a river of liquid words,
and maybe when you call me in this waking and real world,
I will speak again the same words that have burned in me so many years,
love is never expensive, but yes, it costs more than gold ever could.

It costs parts of you that you never planned to give away,
it costs your pride when you wait beneath her terrace like a cosmic beggar,
it costs your silence when you want to scream the truth before the universe,
it costs your sleep when memories refuse to rest inside their graves.

It costs your trust that trembles like a green flame in the wind,
it costs patience that melts like wax in the flames of waiting endlessly,
it costs the courage to remain soft in a world that teaches you to harden,
love doesn't ask for money, it asks for your heart again and again.

Even after it has learned how to shatter into thousands of glass shards,
I found you on your terrace and I waited below like a pilgrim in the night,
the phone carried truths between us like a bridge of invisible light,
I said everything I couldn't say when I was silent out of fear and shame.

Maybe when you call me in the waking world I'll speak those same words again,
love costs more than any coin could ever pay in all of time,
it costs pieces of your soul you didn't know you could give to another,
it costs pride when you stand and wait like an outcast beneath her window.

It costs silence when you want to shout and shatter the night with your truth,
it costs sleep when memories dance like ghosts across the bedroom ceiling,
it costs trust that wavers like a house that's built upon the sand,
it costs patience that evaporates in the burning air of endless waiting.

It costs the courage to remain vulnerable and soft like warm wax melting,
in a world that teaches you to become stone, to harden like iron cold,
love doesn't ask for gold or silver from your empty pockets deep,
it asks for your heart again and again even after it has learned to break.

I found you again in my dreams standing on your terrace like a goddess,
I waited below near your house like a vagabond lost in the night,
the phone carried all the truths that I had swallowed down and hidden,
I said everything in the dream and maybe I'll say it all when you call in reality.

Love isn't expensive but it costs all your unplanned parts and pieces,
it costs pride, silence, sleep, trust and your infinite patience too,
it costs the courage to remain gentle when the world teaches you cruelty,
love asks for your heart again and again even after it has learned how to shatter.
