I Feel Purple Ii

I Feel Purple II

I feel purple;
as purple as a three-day old bruise.

I watched the hammer descend,
unable to slow it down;
unable to change its destination;
unable,
unwilling to pull away.

This is how my heart feels with you gone.
I saw it coming,
head on,
steady on,
but I could not,
would not be moved
from my place beside you;
praying for the miracle
that couldn’t ever,
wouldn’t ever
come.

With you to the end;
now, I am just purple.
