Notes About The Poem

I had to finally do all the things the doctors said to not do, but that work for my body.

Sometimes when you know your own body, you instinctively know what to do.

This happened to me today.

I Feel Better Today

I feel better today
A day that started out with screaming and keening
I asked my daughter for help
She called me
I did not want that
I could not stop crying
I am the mommy
Mommies do not wail and sob like this!

I feel better today
My doctor called to check up
See how I was doing after my stint in hospital
Last week - a world ago now
I could not stop crying
Pain pills are not working
She suggested I go back to an E.R.
I have already been to two of them in
a week and a half.
I could not face them

I feel better today
I did all the things they told me not to do
The things I thought I would rather try
than to go back to a place where they do not
care about me half as much as I do.
My strategy worked!
I am at pain level six instead of ten now.
I did it myself
Using my own mind.

I feel better today
I walked outside and watched a wolf walk across my yard.
In the daytime.
About 2:30.
I yelled "Joe, come see this!"
There was a second wolf.
He was too slow to see them.
The dog did not notice.
My power animals.
Placed there by God to say "you've got this, my child."

I feel better today!

Oh my goodness Caren, what can I say to take this awful disease away? As you say my dear friend 'fingers crossed' and I hope and pray that tomorrow is a better day. With kindest thoughts and love from Ann xxxx

Every day has to get better. Like my mother said "each day HAS to get better. I just HAS to."

Bravo dear Caren at last some respite for you, so keep on doing what you are doing and you will beat the beast! I was so happy to hear from your words that despite everything you have endured you have now turned a corner I am sure. Kindest thoughts Ann xx

The corner yanked away from the wall again. I had my third emergency room visit today. We are trying something new. Fingers crossed.
