I Feel Alive
I come alive at night,
when the stars shine and the air is crisp.
it is better in the summer,
when my toes can sink into the clay
and my skin can feel the wind play.
I feel every thread of energy,
when I close my eyes and root my energy within the earth,
connecting, losing myself,
while my lips gently mumble soft songs
and chants in languages long forgotten,
and my body sways in a dance.
I come alive when the lightening strikes,
I feel its energy hit the ground
and travel through my eyes, invigorating me.
I feel alive when my heart chakra is bare and open,
taking in the pure love that this world is filled with.
When the storms teach me to dance while they push and pull trees,
and the electricity and power surge around me.
I feel alive when I am learning something new,
and when I have found people who I can call my own.
I feel alive when I am in power,
and when power is stripped away from me
like cloth falling to the ground.
When I am a rebel, and when I am a leader.
I feel alive, when I look into my lovers eyes,
and know that I will love him forever.
And the same when I see my niece and nephew.
When I am a lover, and when I am a fighter.
When every cell feels alive
and I am doing more
than just walking through the motions.
