I Dreamt of Him
I go to nature to find my quietude,
the forest gives me peace -
in the stillness I rest my soul,
into the tranquility I intrude.
My heart is shattered and broken,
oh so lovely is the song of an Oriole;
I feel his melody, spirit and compassion.
Is it my love who left with words unspoken!
I hurry to find him in the tangled trees,
for a I fleeting moment I recall our passion;
and I begin to run as if pursued,
my long hair flowing wildly in the breeze.
And there he is on a gnarled branch limb,
I recklessly glance and I know it is him;
then, he flies to me and my emotions swim,
and in my dream we soar in a forest dim.
