I Don'T Want To Let Go
a fog thickens
clouding the world in mist.
nestled in my ears
are the same familiar tunes
repeating endlessly
faithfully
with full knowledge of what’s coming next.
I don’t want them to end.
I don’t want to let go.
replay. replay.
I don’t want to be alone.
I don’t want to let go.
the notes only I can hear
they flood the air around me
their hands press upon my shoulders
the somber melodies embrace me.
I don’t want them to leave.
I don’t want to let go.
my breath slows.
nobody notices the rise and fall deepen.
the music holds me tight
binding me with its love
and I don’t want to let go.
