I don’t want to die
I don’t want to die
He whispers with tears in his eyes “I don’t want to die”
His breath taken away from him
As his life in front of him is grim
His joy & happiness has disappeared
As the disease has interfered
Once able to stand and walk
Now is unable to clearly talk
His voice has been taken away from him
As the disease moves through his limbs
Softly he whispers “I don’t want to die”
And slowly asks “why”
Once a strong man
As the disease began
Taking parts of him
As his life and breath become dimmed
Taking every part of a man
This wasn’t suppose to be the plan
He lived for 83 years
As his life just disappears
In six weeks they say
As his body is in decay day by day
Suffering in silence
As each living moment is gift that is timeless
Watching him slip away day by day
As a tear runs down his face and he says “I just want to stay”
