I Don'T Want To Be Entitled
I don't want to be entitled.
I don't want to be called
the epitome of ethical,
the paragon of virtue
and the abridgment of righteousness.
I don't want to be the
lone specimen of the brightest future.
I don't want to be elected as
'The Future President'
I don't want to be an idol.
For if and when I fail,
My mind- that heard these words,
My mind-that expects itself to succeed
fails.
The burden of failure weighs me down.
The failure to succeed
showers down on me
I fail!
"Life has many ups and downs!"
They say.
Then why would mine be all up?
Why would mine be flawless?
I don't want to be entitled
'The topper'
For when I come second,
I crumble beneath the
hallucinations of disappointment.
I don't want to be entitled
'The Nerd'
for that personality that needs credit
is concealed beneath.
I don't want to be entitled
for it took me years to realize
that those titles were just
expectations- of strangers, not mine
Dreams- not for them, but for me.
Legacies grafted that need not be true.
It took me years to realize that
'I don't care to be entitled!'
