I Don'T Like the Night

I don’t like the night
It is deceiving

With its stars hung loose
At rising height
And its moon pale
Shaded languid white
 
I don’t like the night
It is deceiving

Provoking my emotions to play
On its strings of might
Silence in place
And solitude in sight

I don’t like the night
It is deceiving

With a sense of sorrow
And a feeling of fright
Running chills through me
In cunning delight

I don’t like the night
It is deceiving

Calling me forward
With its allure to incite
Beguiled in marvel
I stay awake tonight

In a more serious vein, I quite understand why many, including you and me, sometimes detest the night. With the stillness and darkness that the night brings, indeed it's that part of day when all our demons seem to come out and torment us from which there is no escape except sleep, if we are lucky. Not so during daylight when our jobs make us preoccupied to momentarily forget our tribulations. Nice write, Farah. Fred
