A Poet's Crush Contest by A Poet Destroyer 5/27/24

I Don't Crush on Poetry But ---

I'm not emotional about poetry to call it a 'crush'
Sometimes I get ideas, but hardly ever in a rush
to write them down like I have a bee in my bonnet
I'm not prone to compose a Shakespearian Sonnet

Rumor is that I like to crush people to be an irritation
and every time I hear that crap, it's with indignation
I've been on the site for years, and that's a long time
I'm just a guy who writes limericks and verse in rhyme

Some people poke fun, shake their heads and cuss
at lines that may be a bit bawdy, but why all the fuss?
Maybe they make some of you blush and faces turn red
But it's all in fun, nothing any adult should ever dread

I've a reputation, but one that some think is not good
Never been the instigator in Poetry Soup brotherhood
That label belongs to others. I've never acted like a troll
criticizing others. I'm not the black sheep in this fold

There were lots of times I felt the need to defend a friend 
Some assume I'm a bully, but only to those who offend
I never point a finger at the innocent and won't condone
anyone who wants to be crowned king and sit on a throne

Unless it's one in a bathroom where the sound of a flush
means there's need for cleaning the toilet with a brush
I laugh with my friends at the potty humor they write
and bark at those who find it distasteful. And yes, I bite.

I've been given days off when accused of a wrongdoing
but I don't cry 'foul play' and whimper with boo-hooing
I'm still around, but I don't have the desire to reach
poetry fame.  I just enjoy having the right to free speech

I'll enter this in the contest, though not a collaboration
I don't have a crush on poetry, but I'll call it a flirtation
to write things about life in the way I honestly see them
Truth is, I'm not a bully creating disruption and mayhem
