I didn't Notice

I didn't notice
how fast time was going—
all the commotion,
it's quite the distraction.

This perpetual motion,
lost in a sea of consumption,
all for social devotion.

Lacking what we left behind,
now chasing dimes with our time.

Is it wrong to numb
with lights and rums?

Moments between moments are what we miss—
something as a kid
I didn't notice.
